The Sports Education Village
Friend Of EduSport aims to build a Sports Education Village in partnership with Bauleni EduSport to provide a wide rage of learning opportunities in order to broaden access to education and sport in Zambia. Engaging more people in sport and offering an innovative and participatory way of engaging young people whilst providing a unique platform for HIV/AIDS and life skills education and the encouragement of healthy lifestyle choices through sport.

The construction of a ground-breaking Sports Education Village will provide a sustained difference to the infrastructure and lives of poor and disadvantaged young people within Zambia by harnessing the power of sport and education. Transforming lives by giving young people the chance to learn and play sport, develop their skills and confidence and live healthier, happier and safer lives. This Sports Edcuation Village will provide:-

  • A wide rage of learning opportunities in order to broaden access to education for over 6000 students
  • Engage more boys and girls in education and sport
  • Offer an innovative programme engaging young people in sport and education whilst facilitating important and life changing HIV/AIDS and life skills education.
  • Encouragement of healthy lifestyle choices through education and sport
  • Reduced risk-taking among youths by providing access to information and the capacity to make and act on decisions.

Objectives to achieve this are:-

  • To provide a library that will enhance educational opportunities and resources for ten schools (6000 young people) in Bauleni, Zambia.
  • To provide HIV and AIDs training to all ten schools and their teachers from the link school programme
  • To develop sustained employment and job opportunities for young adults in Bauleni
  • To provide a minimum of quarterly capacity building workshops for teachers and coaches in the community
  • To provide EduSport with the classrooms, books and sporting facilities to develop the Youth Peer Leader programme in Bauleni
  • To develop a group of talented young peers that will develop Friend Of EduSport Ability Counts (Disability Sport) programme
  • The further education, training and development of EduSport Peer Leaders
  • Provide workshops for Peer Leaders to develop skills that will be used to provide sports sessions, life skills sessions and elite athlete training at the sports education village and in the community.
  • Completion of Phase one and two (library, office space and sports hall) to provide vital infrastructure to the community and local schools.
  • To provide weekly forms of positive diversionary activities for young people at risk
  • Enhance access to books, resources and the world wide web
  • Information, Support and awareness raising for the community

Friend Of EduSport need £50,000 to make this dream become a reality for 6000 young people. Every penny counts. If you want to help us achieve this goal please buy a brick for just £5 and help us build this for Bauleni Community Compound brick by brick.
