After months of planning and weeks of shipment, the books have arrived and the Library Project is being implemented in Zambia. The first phase of the distribution plan is now complete, which has seen three communities initiate 10 new libraries each of which received 1000 books. Room to Read

On Monday 9th November Friend of EduSport, in partnership with the BUSA, EduSport Foundation and Kalingalinga EduSport, officially launched the Library Development project in Zambia.  A shipment of 17,500 books, sport equipment and second-hand laptops is currently ‘in transit’; this project has become a reality thanks to the efforts of Anne Stokes, Derek Keir, Kaluba Kangwa, St John’s School and Beaconhurst School. To bring together all the stakeholders involved in phase one of the project we hosted a workshop for our 10 partner schools. 28 representatives came from 2 private, 3 Government and 5 Community schools accompanied by EduSport community contact persons.  This allowed Friend of EduSport, led by Derek, an opportunity to provide an update on the progress of the books, disseminate information about the distribution of books, discuss the preparations in place and also the intended management strategies being employed by schools to maximise access to the library facilities.

GO SISTERS WORLD SERIES
Written by Becky Maybury
Sunday, 07 June 2009

go sisters world series.gifGo Sisters World Series 2009 took place on 9th May, and proved that the 'Go Sisters' movement is going from strength to strength. This year saw almost 500 participants, a considerable increase from last year's 100 participants!

Go Sisters has been active since 2001 in Zambia, and is aimed specifically at empowering females though keeping active-  to help young girls to build stronger bodies, stronger minds and a brighter future. Although Go Sisters operates as a year-round programme, 2009 was only the second World Series of what promises to continue as a successful annual event to unite 'sisters' and supporters globally.

Sharon Museke provides us with a round-up of the events in Zambia, which is followed by a match report of the Stirling final by Andrew Jenkin.

MID- SEMESTER PROGRESS REPORT SEPTEMBER 2008:

Vincent Banda
Vincent Banda
Firstly I would like to thank all my sponsors for their contributions in allowing me to start my course at the National Institute of Public Administration. It has been a busy first term but I am grateful for this opportunity.

The first 3 months of my course in Public Administration has been exciting.  I am studying five subjects and these are Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Government and Politics and Business Communication Skills. My major is Public Administration and it is mainly concerned with managing organizations, making and implementing policies in an organizational set up either in private or public organization. I wrote my first assignment in Government and Politics and am now doing my second assignment of semester 1.  I am very happy to be this course as I feel that when I complete the course I will be able to make a positive contribution to the community and especially in the field of Sports Management/ Sports Development. Am on a mid- semester break for one week and so far the course is going on well and the studies are going on well and in three months time, I will be sitting for my end of semester exams and am aiming at clearing al the subjects.
